Lymphatic Massages and Drainage

Posted on April 28, 2017 at 9:15 AM

Many benefits can result from lymphatic massage before and after plastic surgery. Lymphatic drainage (which is included in the rate) promotes tissue regeneration therefore reducing the formation and severity of scars, seromas and fibrosis which can be unsightly and sometimes painful. Treatment can begin as soon as 24 hrs after surgery, with approval of the doctor and as long as there are no complications with the patient. Every doctor as a preferred time they feel the patient should start, remember every body goes through a different healing process. After surgery the lymphatic pathways will be very different and these treatments should be handled by a specialist. Studies have shown that it takes between seven and ten days for the natural and functional continuity of the lymphatic vessels to be re-established itself. Perhaps the most significant benefit of applying lymphatic drainage post surgically is to prevent or alleviate oedema or swelling and of course pain. Swelling can cause pain and create a predisposition to infection putting your life at risk. So yes! Lymphatic massages are an absolute must post Surgery. Please take them seriously, put them in your budget and try to have a minimum of 10.

Tip - An Average Lymphatic massage cost $60-90 in the states so have as many as you can in the Dominican Republic!
